First Third: Cedar, Earth, and Spice
The cigar started with cedar, dry earth, and a noticeable hit of spice.
There was enough pepper to immediately give the Serie O some personality, but I didn’t find it harsh or overwhelming.
More importantly, it settled into the smoke quickly.
The draw was easy, smoke production was good, and I wasn’t fighting the cigar from the beginning.
That’s always a good start.
Second Third: Where the Serie O Really Hit Its Stride
The middle of the cigar was my favorite part.
The cedar and earth stayed present, but I started getting more nuttiness as the spice settled into the background.
This is also where the Serie O showed why I think it’s such an easy cigar to recommend.
There was plenty of flavor, but nothing was screaming for attention.
Cedar. Earth. Nuts. Spice.
Simple combination. Really enjoyable smoke.
This middle section also ended up being the sweet spot when I later paired the Serie O Robusto with Rabbit Hole Cavehill bourbon.
Final Third: Deeper and a Little Bolder
The final third became a little deeper and stronger without falling apart.
The earth and spice became more noticeable again while the cedar remained underneath everything.
I slowed my pace as I got toward the end, which is generally a good idea with almost any cigar. Smoking too quickly can heat a cigar up and make otherwise good flavors sharper than they need to be.
The Serie O remained enjoyable enough that I had no reason to put it down early.
That’s a pretty good sign.
Strength and Body: Is the Oliva Serie O Strong?
The Oliva Serie O is best described as medium to medium-full.
It has more strength and flavor than a mild Connecticut cigar, but it is not in the same category as a heavy ligero bomb or an aggressive full-bodied Nicaraguan cigar.
That makes it a good stepping stone for smokers who are ready to move beyond beginner cigars.
It is also a good choice for experienced smokers who want something flavorful but not exhausting.
I would not call it an empty-stomach morning cigar unless you are used to stronger blends. Have some food in you, especially if you are smoking a larger size.
Construction, Draw, and Burn
Construction was one of the reasons the Oliva Serie O Robusto earned 4.5 Robes from me.
The draw was good from the beginning, the burn behaved itself, and the cigar was simply easy to smoke.

I smoked the Oliva Serie O Robusto alongside Rabbit Hole Cavehill bourbon for Friday Night Pour Vol. 6.
