La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Review

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Robusto Review: Chocolate, Earth & Pepper

For this La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor review, I smoked the 5 × 50 Robusto, and this cigar did exactly what I want a good medium-to-full smoke to do.

It had plenty of flavor.

It changed as I smoked it.

The draw was good.

The burn was nice.

And I never felt like I had to manage the cigar instead of enjoying it.

My Mi Amor started with chocolate and nuttiness, became noticeably earthier through the second third, and finished with a little more black pepper.

Nothing complicated.

Nothing forced.

Just a flavorful cigar that smoked well from beginning to end.

Bathrobe Patriot Rating: ★★★★½ — 4.5 / 5 Robes

Would I buy it again? Absolutely.

And when I paired it with Baker’s 7 Year Single Barrel Bourbon for Friday Night Pour Vol. 7, the combination also earned 4.5 out of 5 Robes.

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor review

Quick Answer: Is La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Good?

Yes.

The La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Robusto gave me a rich but manageable smoking experience built around:

Chocolate

Nuttiness

Earth

Black pepper

The construction backed up the flavor.

Good draw.

Nice burn.

Easy smoke.

That’s an important combination.

There are plenty of cigars with impressive flavor descriptions that become work halfway through.

This wasn’t one of them.

★★★★½ — 4.5 / 5 Robes

If you already enjoy medium-to-full cigars and darker flavors without needing something brutally strong, the Mi Amor deserves a look.

La Aroma de Cuba lists the Mi Amor Robusto at 5 × 50, with a San Andrés wrapper over Nicaraguan long-filler tobacco and classifies the cigar as medium-full.

The manufacturer describes the broader profile with dark chocolate, almond, espresso bean, black pepper and coconut. My own cigar landed most clearly on chocolate, nuttiness, earth and pepper.

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor

What Is La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor?

Mi Amor is the darker, richer side of the La Aroma de Cuba lineup.

The key ingredient is the San Andrés wrapper.

That wrapper gives the cigar a noticeably darker personality than something built around a Connecticut Shade leaf.

We’re talking more:

Chocolate.

Coffee territory.

Earth.

Pepper.

Nuts.

That’s exactly the kind of profile I wanted when I chose it for a higher-proof bourbon pairing.

But the cigar doesn’t need bourbon to make sense.

It worked perfectly well on its own.

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Flavor Profile

My cigar didn’t require a flavor dictionary.

That’s a compliment.

The flavors I kept coming back to were:

Chocolate

This was the most noticeable early flavor for me.

Not candy-bar sweetness.

More of a darker cocoa/chocolate direction that fit the cigar’s overall personality.

Nuttiness

This sat naturally beside the chocolate.

It also became one of the reasons the cigar eventually worked so well with Baker’s 7.

Earth

The cigar moved noticeably earthier through the middle.

That gave the smoke more depth and kept it from becoming a one-note chocolate cigar.

Black Pepper

The pepper became more noticeable late.

Not enough to ruin the cigar.

Just enough to give the finish some bite.

The official Mi Amor profile also includes espresso and coconut, but those weren’t the flavors that defined my particular Robusto.

And that’s fine.

Cigar tasting isn’t a scavenger hunt.

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor review

First Third: Chocolate and Nuttiness

The opening third was probably the easiest part of the cigar to describe.

Chocolate and nuts.

Those were the flavors that jumped out at me.

The cigar started rich, but it wasn’t overwhelming.

That’s an important distinction because Mi Amor is officially listed as medium-full.

There was enough flavor immediately to keep my attention, but it didn’t feel like the cigar was trying to prove something.

The draw was already working nicely.

The burn settled in.

And I could just smoke.

Good start.

Second Third: The Earth Moves In

The middle of the cigar changed things.

The chocolate and nuttiness didn’t completely disappear, but the profile became noticeably earthier.

That gave the Mi Amor more weight.

I liked that transition.

A cigar should give me some reason to keep paying attention.

If the final puff tastes exactly like the first puff, that’s not automatically bad, but I appreciate a cigar that develops.

The Mi Amor did.

The middle third felt deeper and a little more serious without suddenly turning harsh.

Final Third: Black Pepper Shows Up

Toward the end, black pepper became more noticeable.

This was the most aggressive part of the cigar, but I still wouldn’t call my experience harsh.

The pepper gave the finish some edge.

The earth remained underneath it.

And enough of the darker chocolate character lingered to keep everything connected to where the cigar started.

That’s one of the reasons the score stayed at 4.5 Robes.

The cigar changed.

But it still felt like the same cigar.

Construction, Draw and Burn

This was easy.

Good draw.

Nice burn.

Easy smoke.

That’s it.

And that’s exactly how I want this section to read.

I didn’t spend the evening constantly correcting the burn.

I didn’t have to fight the draw.

I didn’t have to relight the thing every ten minutes.

The cigar let me concentrate on smoking it.

That matters.

A lot.

The Robusto Sweet Spot Cigar Review

Was the 5 × 50 Robusto the Right Size?

For me, yes.

The Mi Amor Robusto is 5 × 50, and I thought the format fit the cigar well.

It gave the tobacco enough time to develop through those three clear stages:

Chocolate and nuts → earth → black pepper

without turning the smoke into an all-night commitment.

The manufacturer also offers Mi Amor in larger formats including the Duque, Magnifico, Valentino and Churchill.

But based on my experience?

I’d happily buy the Robusto again.

The size did its job.

How Strong Is La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor?

La Aroma de Cuba classifies Mi Amor as medium-full.

That feels like the right neighborhood based on my smoke.

There’s considerably more going on here than a mild Connecticut-style cigar.

You’ve got darker flavors.

Earth.

Pepper.

Enough body to stand beside serious bourbon.

But mine remained very approachable mechanically.

That’s the important part.

Medium-full flavor doesn’t have to mean difficult smoking.

Mi Amor is a good example.

Is La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Good for Beginners?

I wouldn’t make it someone’s first cigar.

Not because it smoked badly.

It didn’t.

The cigar simply brings more body, earth and pepper than I would normally use to introduce somebody to premium cigars.

If you’re completely new, start with my Cigars 101 beginner’s guide and get comfortable with the basics first.

But if you’ve already smoked some mild and medium cigars and you’re ready to move into something darker?

Mi Amor makes a lot more sense.

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor vs. Perdomo Lot 23 Maduro

This is an interesting comparison because both cigars live in darker territory but felt different to me.

The Perdomo Lot 23 Maduro Toro gave me:

Cedar.

Coffee.

Pepper.

Roasted nuts.

Espresso.

Cocoa.

Baking spice.

The Mi Amor Robusto was simpler in my experience:

Chocolate.

Nuttiness.

Earth.

Black pepper.

The Perdomo had a broader flavor range and earned 5 Robes from me.

Mi Amor earned 4.5 Robes.

That doesn’t mean I’d hesitate to buy Mi Amor again.

I wouldn’t.

They’re just different cigars.

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor vs. Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro

The Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro is another obvious comparison because both cigars can satisfy someone looking for darker flavors.

My Melanio Maduro leaned into:

Dark chocolate.

Espresso.

Cocoa.

Earth.

Mi Amor gave me:

Chocolate.

Nuttiness.

Earth.

Black pepper.

The Melanio felt a little more polished and espresso-heavy.

The Mi Amor had more obvious pepper at the end and a straightforward progression that was easy to follow.

I rated both 4.5 Robes.

I’d buy both again.

The Bourbon I Actually Paired With It: Baker’s 7

This is where Mi Amor became even more interesting.

For Friday Night Pour Vol. 7, I paired the Robusto with Baker’s 7 Year Single Barrel Bourbon.

Baker’s brought:

Burnt caramel

Vanilla

Oak

Mi Amor brought:

Chocolate

Nuttiness

Earth

Black pepper

And the combination worked.

Pairing Rating: ★★★★½ — 4.5 / 5 Robes

The opening chocolate and nuts found an easy connection with Baker’s caramel and vanilla.

As the cigar became earthier, the bourbon’s oak had something to connect with.

And once black pepper showed up late, the bourbon’s sweetness became even more useful.

It softened the edge without erasing it.

That’s exactly what I want from a pairing.

Read the complete field test in Friday Night Pour Vol. 7.

Why Baker’s 7 Worked With Mi Amor

The pairing reinforced something I’ve learned over and over:

You don’t need identical flavors.

Chocolate didn’t need more chocolate.

It benefited from caramel.

Earth didn’t need more earth.

It benefited from oak.

Black pepper benefited from vanilla and sweetness.

That’s contrast doing useful work.

And because Baker’s has enough proof and structure, the bourbon didn’t vanish behind a medium-full cigar.

Neither side needed protection.

That’s a good pairing.

If you want to understand how I build combinations like this, my bourbon and cigar pairing guide breaks down proof, cigar strength, sweetness, spice and complementary versus contrasting flavors.

Is La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Worth Buying?

For me?

Yes.

And this is where my rating system gets very simple.

Did I enjoy the flavor?

Yes.

Did it burn well?

Yes.

Did it draw well?

Yes.

Did the cigar develop?

Yes.

Would I buy it again?

Absolutely.

That’s a 4.5-Robe cigar.

Not because it’s rare.

Not because somebody else gave it a big score.

Not because the band looks good.

Because I smoked it and wanted another one.

That’s the test.

Who Should Smoke La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor?

I’d point you toward Mi Amor if you already enjoy:

Dark chocolate flavors.

Nuttiness.

Earthier tobacco.

Black pepper.

Medium-to-full cigars.

San Andrés wrappers.

Bourbon pairings.

I’d look elsewhere if you strongly prefer extremely mild, creamy Connecticut-style cigars.

Different job.

Different cigar.
